THE PROBLEM of BIRD STRIKES in AVIATION
The problem of bird strikes is as old as the aviation industry. Depending on the number and size, birds can pose a serious risk to aircraft. Bird strikes usually occur in the first 300 meters of altitude, where 80% of the collisions with birds occur and where aircraft are particularly at risk taking off and landing.
Estimates of the damage go from several hundred million US dollars to more than a billion US-$ worldwide annually. Indisputable is that the material and non-material damage caused by bird strikes is too high. This affects humans, technical devices and birds.
